WORCESTER (WBZ-AM) -- The metal bull statue that sits atop Fairway Beef Company in Worcester has become a recognized local landmark.

Store employee Judy Stake told WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Shari Small the 500 lb., anatomically correct sculpture, nicknamed Sir Loin, is often a topic of conversation.

"Especially since they turned it, and you can see everything now," Stake said. "All the body parts."

But early Tuesday morning, a vandal almost altered Sir Loin's anatomy. In surveillance video, via Worcester Telegram and Gazette, a man can be seen ... attempting surgery on the bull.

"The guy is up there, he's riding it, he's trying to cut off his ... parts, trying to take his bell off," Stake said.

The Worcester Telegram & Gazette reports that Sean Giorgi, 24 of Worcester, was charged with trespassing. An initial charge of malicious vandalism and defacing property was dropped. The paper said Giorgi was released on his own recognizance, and that he's due back in court Oct. 30--but that he has to stay away from Sir Loin in the meantime.

On the store's Facebook page, the owners assured the public that Sir Loin was fine.

"Sir Loin @ Fairway Beef, would like to let everyone know he did survive the scary ordeal he had to endure," the post read. "Everything is back in its proper place and hanging well. (Thanks to a dull knife). Sir Loin always want to thank Alex, our neighbor and the WPD for the quick response."
