Body Removed From Home In Oxford After Fire

OXFORD, MA (WBZ-AM) -- One person is dead, after an overnight fire at a home in Oxford.

Fire Officials say a resident returned home at 16 Sacarrappa Road.  around 8 p.m. Thursday to find the house on fire and reported that one person may still be inside.

They did an initial search but had to evacuate as the roof become structurally unsound and the situation dangerous.

The neighborhood where the home is located is remote and there were no hydrants, so it took fire crews longer to bring in water to the scene.

The body of an adult was removed from the home at 16 Sacarrappa Road overnight.

A neighbor who spoke with WBZ NewsRadio1030's Kim Tunnicliffe said that an elderly woman and her two dogs were killed. 

The woman's daughter who also lived in the home, is staying with him temporarily and is still in shock.

Officials have yet to release the name of the victim the cause remains under investigation.

In an unrelated incident, there was another fire in town at 26 Federal Hill Rd in . Wednesday. A barn was totally destroyed. No injuries were reported.
