BOSTON, MA  (WBZ-AM) State senators have nominated Harriette Chandler (D-Worcester) to serve as acting president of the upper chamber.

The nomination comes Massachusetts Senate President Stan Rosenberg took a leave of absence Monday as the Senate begins its sexual misconduct investigation into his husband.

His husband, Bryon Hefner, was accused of sexual misconduct by four men in a Boston Globe story last week.

Senate Democrats met behind closed doors for over 8 hours on Monday to prepare for the investigation into the allegations against Hefner, and to choose Chandler as  acting president.

The legislature is expected to vote on the nomination and swear-in Chandler late-Monday evening.
