Coast Guard Searching For Missing Fishermen Off Nantucket

BOSTON, MA (WBZ-AM) -- Two people have been rescued and two remain unaccounted for after a commercial fishing vessel sank off the coast of Nantucket Monday evening. 

U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer Andrew Barresi with Coast Guard Northeast in Boston, tells WBZ NewsRadio1030 that they received a distress beacon from the "Misty Blue" taking on water approximately 10-miles southeast of Nantucket around 6:10 P.M.

According to public records the ship is a commercial vessel is based out of New Bedford, MA. 

Two aircrafts from the Coast Guard doing training exercises at the time were diverted to the search area.

Additionally, a good Samaritan called the Coast Guard saying they had picked up two people from the boat. 

The Coast Guard has yet to confirm the condition of those rescued. They say that a debris field was seen. They are actively searching by air and sea.
