BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Boston Police said Mayor Michelle Wu was in a car crash on Tuesday morning, after the undercover squad car carrying her ran a red light with lights flashing.
New details from the crash came to light Wednesday after officials released a police report on the incident, which happened at about 9:50 a.m. on Tuesday.
The report said the undercover Boston Police Ford SUV was crossing the intersection of Hyde Park Avenue and Blakemore Street while the light was red. The cruiser's police lights and sirens were on when it was t-boned by another car.

The police report said the officer driving "was unable to avoid the collision," saying the other car was going too fast to swerve away. Mayor Wu, whose name is redacted in the report, told the driving officer that she had minor pain on her right side after the crash but was able to walk around.
A woman emerged from the other car after the crash carrying a young boy. They both declined treatment but were taken by Boston EMS ambulance to get checked out.
The officer driving Wu's escort was also transported to be checked out by a doctor.
Both cars had to be towed away.
