BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — An award-winning restaurateur lands a taste of New England at Boston Logan International Airport.
Massachusetts Port Authority and others joined Roger Berkowitz for a ribbon-cutting on Tuesday morning to celebrate the official grand opening of Roger's Fish Co. at Terminal A in Logan Airport.
"It's sort of a hybrid between quick serve fast casual and full serve - all sort of squished into a smaller footprint so you're able to get high-quality product very quickly," Berkowitz, the former President and CEO of Legal Sea Foods, told WBZ NewsRadio.
Free samples were passed out at the grand opening, including clam chowder, crab cakes, and fish sandwiches. It's the first time the online seafood company has debuted a restaurant concept.
Berkowitz wanted to turn the 700-square-foot space into a modern-day fish shack, full of fresh seafood that's ready fast to match the on-the-go energy of travelers at the airport.

"Because look when you come to the airport, we have the mentality of quality, cook from scratch, and speed," said Berkowitz.
Roger's Fish Co. has been making adjustments to the menu and operations since its soft opening about a month ago.
Richard Davey, Massport CEO told WBZ NewsRadio's James Rojas that customers wanted access to more local brands and Roger's Fish Co. seemed like a good fit.
"[It's] a new quick serve concept to Logan Airport," Davey said. "We're excited to have them. This is a part of our continuing effort to improve the customer experience here at Logan Airport."
Berkowitz, a lifelong fishmonger, was the President and CEO of Legal Sea Foods for nearly 30 years before selling it and opening the e-commerce company Roger's Fish Co. in 2023. He was named a James Beard "Who's Who" Award winner in 2017.
