n a weekend that saw a woman get attacked by a jaguar at an Arizona zoo, comes another story of a wild animal encounter.
A man diving off the coast of South Africa was swallowed by a large whale -- and lived to tell about it. 51-year-old diver Rainer Schimpf says he did not have "a whale of a time." But all joking aside, he's lucky to be alive. He was diving with a camera crew when the huge, 20-ton Bryde's whale breached the surface with its mouth open and swallowed him.
He said, "It got dark and I felt some pressure on my hip. Once I felt the pressure I instantly knew a whale had gripped me." He says his wet suit protected him from the whale's teeth. Luckily for him, the whale opened its mouth and freed him. (NY Post)
